Two Double Wardrobes To Maximise Storage Space

The brief for this particular job was to create two double wardrobes to maximise storage space. The two double wardrobes were for a fairly small bedroom. As is often the case the availble space in the bedroom was considerably reduced by the intrusion of the stairs bulkhead. As you can see from the image below, the rather ugly looking and cumbersome stairs bulkhead restricts the ability to use a free standing conventional wardrobe. There would be too much wasted space.

Designing The Two Double Wardrobes

With some clever design we were able to fully utilise the space above the stairs bulkhead. This is what we do at USE THAT SPACE. So,by incorporating the stairs bulkhead in the right hand double wardrobe we were able to completely hide it from view. Hidden in the wardrobe. Above the stairs bulkhead there were to be a series of shallow shelves, useful for storage and a hanging rail. The left hand double wardrobe was set up for double hanging rails.

Specifications For The Two Double Wardrobes

After discussing all the aspects of the customers requirements we were able to move forward. The specifications were as follows:

Using a light grey finish for the cabinetry with 2 x Mirrored sliding doors and 2 x Light grey sliding doors with silver trim and track, starting from the entrance door and working clockwise around the room we are to supply and install the following fitted furniture: -

1 x Sliding wardrobe with 1 Mirrored door and 1 Light grey door – set up internally with double hanging rails.

1 x Sliding wardrobe with 1 Mirrored door and 1 Light grey door – set up internally with a top shelf, hanging rail and shallow shelves at the back.

The building work started with us removing much of the existing stairs bulkhead and then boxing it in to tidy it up. Then the build commenced. It was a very straightforward build for our fitters as most of the pieces had been machined and cut in advance.

Once the build was complete we handed over the two double wardrobes to maximise storage space,to a delighted customer.
